Meet the Dentists

Peter Roukema, DMD

Dr. Roukema is passionate about dentistry and is dedicated to providing high-quality and comfortable dental care to his patients. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in chemistry with minor studies in biology from the University of Northern Colorado, he completed his dental training at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Upon graduation, he moved to Albuquerque to receive an Advanced Education in General Dentistry certificate from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.

Dr. Roukema strongly believes in developing trusting relationships with his patients, focusing on their overall oral health and the value of prevention and regular maintenance. Recognizing that individual situations require different options, Dr. Roukema works with his patients to develop comprehensive treatment goals and can provide a full range of services in the office from cleanings and simple fillings to complex reconstructive cases, dental implants, root canals, full and partial dentures, and extractions.

Dr. Roukema is a member of the American Dental Association, the New Mexico Dental Association, the Albuquerque District Dental Society, and the American Academy of General Dentistry. As a dedicated life-long learner, he will always be a student of dentistry as he attends continuing education classes to stay current on the latest techniques in the dental field.

Dr. Roukema and his wife Christy are blessed with four children. He enjoys spending time with his family and loves the great state of New Mexico. As an outdoor and fitness enthusiast, Dr. Roukema enjoys mountain biking, skiing, cross training, and training for triathlons in his free time.

Dr. Staker, DMD

Dr. Staker is committed to providing excellence to every patient experience. He makes the comfort and care of his patients his top priority. He grew up in Idaho Falls, Idaho, he is the youngest of six children. He wanted to follow in his oldest brother’s footsteps to become a dentist. He attended Brigham Young University and received a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. During his time there he had the opportunity to live in Conception, Chile for two years where he became fluent in Spanish. Shortly after he returned from Chile he met his wife Kristy and they had their first daughter, Hailey, while still attending BYU. He then attended dental school at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. During dental school they added two more daughters, Allyson and Natalie. Dr. Staker graduated from NSU in 2007.

Following dental school Dr. Staker and his family moved to Idaho Falls where he worked with Indian Health Services for seven years and added two more children, a daughter, Lilly and their only son, Brayden. During this time he was able to attend several dental courses around the country in Washington, Nevada, Oregon, Oklahoma, Arizona, North Dakota and New Mexico. During their visit to New Mexico, Dr. Staker and his family enjoyed the weather, culture, food, and all that New Mexico had to offer. In 2014 they decided it was time for a change and made the move to Albuquerque.

Dr. Staker is a member of the American Dental Association and the New Mexico Dental Association. He continues to enjoy taking courses to improve his knowledge and skills and is passionate about dentistry.

In his spare time Dr. Staker enjoys spending time with his busy family attending his children’s dance, orchestra, soccer and gymnastics events. He is an Eagle Scout and enjoys camping, hiking, and working with the Boy Scouts. Dr. Staker is a huge sports fan and enjoys watching and playing all sports. He and his wife enjoy running and have finished 4 marathons together along with several other races.
